Whats New

Wow! Where does the time go too?  Sadly we had to cancel the craft fair in July, this due to the drain gurgling up water onto the floor, this would have been too dangerous for our clients, so appologies all around.  We have accepted an invite to display and demonstrate at the Scottish Mobility Roadshow  17th & 18th September (see main page) so I am looking forward to seeing all our regulars at the show.  We were invited to display at the Scottich Woodworking show but due to prior commitments (I am flying away) we had to decline but as you see we are supporting it in every way we can.

CurrentNews

Friday 21st May 2010 we attended the Spinal Injuries Scotland awards lunch, the scoff was fantastic and a great bunch of folk attended.  We were honoured to have made the awards for the third year running and they were well received.

I am over the moon that we have been asked to make the awards for 2011 and I already have my thinking cap on, although it has to be said that my head is empty of ideas (nothing new there then).  The workshop has been busy and we have had a few new members, which is great.

I am a self taught woodturner and a qualified adult educator (CG 730 Teacher Cert).  The training is carried out within my own workshop (click the word workshop to see it) where I have a vb36 lathe and a Silverdrive Statesman 280 as well as a "Delta" Midi Lathe which can be set up for wheelchair woodturning, the workshop is fully ramped but I DO NOT HAVE A DISABLED TOILET, access for a toilet is through the house and I have a stair lift seat to cope with the stairs.

The training is aimed at an introduction to woodturning and also discussing and trying out various bits of equipment with a view to your own requirements when setting up a workshop of your own.  Training is conducted on a daily basis from 10am till 3.30pm All I ask is a donation of £50 per day to cover the cost of heating, Lighting, tools, basic small pieces of wood, larger wood blanks will be charged at cost.

ROCKING HORSE MAKING:

Once again I am self taught you can see 2 of my horses in my Gallery or check out Techniques and tips to see the most recently made horse.  I am a member of the Guild of Rocking Horse Makers, having made a few horses.

The training will be on the basis that you will pay for your own wood and materials, I can supply the advice, some of the tools and the time and location.  I am quite happy to steer you through the complete horse or just the carving of the head (which is the hardest part).  Training is conducted on a daily basis from 10am till 3.30pm All I ask is a donation of £50 per day to cover the cost of heating, lighting and tools.  The workshop is fully ramped but I DO NOT HAVE A DISABLED TOILET, access for a toilet is through the house and I have a stair lift seat to cope with the stairs.
